About

My name is Nancy Cudis Ucag. I live in Cebu, a beautiful tropical island that is rich in culture and heritage just like the rest of the 7,600+ islands of the Philippines. I have been blogging since 2008 on various platforms. I started out of curiosity and wrote about my personal experiences. My blogging interests, in my quest to improve myself, also expanded to include reading, writing, and community development issues. Here, where I will permanently stay, I will share with you my strong interest in these three broad areas with the hope that you will also, at your own time and pace, actively involve yourself in the magical and fulfilling experience of writing, reading and outreach.

One’s interests can change over time. In the same way, changes may be reflected in my blog to reflect my current interests. For now, I will be writing about my country’s literature, nonfiction work by Filipino talents, Cebu’s culture and heritage,  and my pride of place. I started the #readPhilippines challenge, featuring short stories by great Filipino writers. I will also join blogging and reading challenges in order to meet passionate like-minded people like you. This is why I am looking forward to connecting with you. If you want, you can drop me a comment anytime and I’ll reach out to you.

I am a previously a journalist for SunStar Cebu, a local English daily, and a communication specialist for Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc., a non-government organization (NGO) serving the Visayas and Mindanao. My current profession heavily involves written words. I am a professional writer through my duly registered business, The Memoriter, which will turn five years old in February 2019. I write, edit, research, blog, manage social media accounts, and design materials for individuals, companies, small business, startups, business groups, and NGOs. If you have a project that needs help, you may want to consider me and what I can do for you. My email address is nrcudis@gmail.com.

On a part-time basis, I teach mass communication courses at St. Theresa’s College-Cebu while I am finishing my postgraduate studies. I also volunteer through conducting writing workshops for young students and through participating in the activities of the civic organizations I belong to.

I am a fortunate and grateful person to have been recognized the following:

- 2018 Best Investigative Report - Blog Category in the Mega Cebu Investigative Report competition
- 2014 Cebu Bloggers Society Award of Distinction and Blogger of the Year
- 2013 Best Institutional Website (for an NGO) in the Cebu Archdiocesan Mass Media Awards (CAMMA)
